Support and clinical-care are offered by a team of passionate and qualified professionals, whose goal is to improve the quality of life of patients, starting from the subjective perception of each and planning assistance aimed at physical needs, psycho-social and spiritual. Believing in the value of the holistic approach that takes into account the whole person, the team, with specific training and experience in Palliative Care, is composed of different professionals who offer multidisciplinary assistance.

Dr. Mirta Rocchi is responsible for the Hospice and Dr. Annamaria Marzi  for Training Center.

The working team consists of:

  • a Senior Palliative Investigator with clinical responsibility;
  • 14 general practitioners affiliated with the A.U.S.L.;
  • 17 palliative care nurses;
  • 8 social-health operators;

The Service Coordinator is a nurse generally present in the morning. Other professional presentations are the psychologists, the spiritual assistants, a music therapist, a Shiatsu operator.

The House is an integral part of the Primary Care Network of the Local Health Authority of Reggio Emilia, with which it shared the strategic lines of organization of the service.

The patient’s General Practitioner may be the therapeutic manager of the patient during his stay in Hospice, with the assistance of the Palliativist Doctor.

The team participated in an inter-professional training course in the ethical-legal, relational, clinical-assistance and organizational area of ​​20 days. All operators are periodically involved in updating and training, to support motivation and improve the effectiveness and professionalism of the service.

Hospice volunteers

Another valuable resource  of the Hospice is represented by 40 volunteers who, duly trained, help in various activities (reception, relations with patients, cooking, transport, gardening,  minor repairs, library, archives etc.).

The experience of being a volunteer is first and foremost a life experience.
